Dalton—Shaw released a new, high-gloss, durable laminate finish the mill has dubbed OptiGuard. Highly scratch resistant and made in the U.S., OptiGuard increases the detail, beauty and realism of Shaw’s laminate floors. To demonstrate the strength and resilience of OptiGuard, Shaw staged a torture test at the company’s laminate manufacturing facility in Ringgold, Ga. in Nov. 2010; Shaw laminate with OptiGuard endured 1,500 passes from an 18, 790-pound forklift.

“Shaw is committed to continuous hard surface innovation,” said Scott Sandlin, vice president, hard surfaces. “The OptiGuard technology represents innovation that takes our laminate offerings to the next level. The high-gloss, realistic visual and unmatched durability is a true differentiator for Shaw hard surface retailers. We’re excited to see the industry’s reaction to this technology which developed with our team here in North America.”

OptiGuard benefits include:

  • Extreme Durability. Pliant and adaptive, the OptiGuard surface is compounded to resist scratching and marring which creates a highly durable floor in the toughest environments.
  • Ultra-high gloss. OptiGuard has outstanding clarity and one of the highest gloss levels in the industry. The surface is exceptionally smooth, fine, and reflective.
  • Realistic finish. OptiGuard allows a natural and realistic finish, allowing the detail and design of the product to resonate. Combine this with the durability of OptiGuard and you have the best laminate available today.
