Dalton—Global Reason by Shaw Hospitality Group was named top Flooring- Carpeting & Carpet Systems, Rugs in the 15th annual IIDA/HD Product Design Competition at HD Expo 2011. Additionally, Shaw Hospitality Group received the “Best Product Display” award for its booth during HD Expo.

Inspired by the centuries-old art of block printing, the Shaw Hospitality Group design team retooled traditional techniques to revive this ancient craft to create the award-winning Global Reason collection.

“In addition to block printing, the design team was inspired by cultural cross pollination, ethnic influenced hues and vintage batik patterns that evolved into contemporary motifs,” said Pamela Rainey, design manager. “The result is a sustainable carpet collection where updated geometrics, mixed motifs and graphic compositions create a culturally eclectic feel.”

Global Reason coordinates with the Style Tribe Eco Evolution print and computer yarn placement (CYP) collection for public spaces. Both carpet collections are Cradle to Cradle Certified by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry. They are completely recyclable, containing 25% pre-consumer recycled content. Global Reason and Style Tribe can be reclaimed and never have to enter a landfill. They contribute to the LEED point rating system for recycled content, low-emitting materials and innovation in design. The collection is also Green Label Plus Certified.
