Dalton—Nearly 200 Tandus Flooring employees volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Whitfield County, Dalton Middle and Brookwood Elementary Schools as part of the mill’s “Make it Personal” campaign.

The community service projects were part of Tandus’ international sales meeting held in nearby Chattanooga, Tenn.

“Every other year the company has its international sales meeting in Chattanooga,” explained Glen Hussmann, president and CEO of Tandus, “and community service is a staple of our meetings. Plus, this group looks forward to giving back.”

Tandus worked closely with the United Way of Northwest Georgia Volunteer Center to design the service projects to make the most positive impact. Tandus employees from across North America pitched in to help improve these staples of the community through a variety of efforts.

Volunteers at Brookwood Elementary School installed Powerbond floor covering, created garden spaces and built a greenhouse.

Those who volunteered at Dalton Middle School helped create a butterfly garden in honor of a former teacher. The volunteers returned to the Boys and Girls Club for the second time to enhance recreational areas, build picnic tables and install siding on a primary building.

“This company is making a huge impact on our local agencies through mobilizing more than 200 volunteers,” said Amanda Burt, president of United Way of Northwest Georgia. “It’s so great to see Tandus coming back with its entire sales force to make a difference in the local area.”
