FIANA changes membership qualifications

St. Louis—Finished floor covering products have been added to the list of approved products for membership in the Floor Installation Association of North America (FIANA).

As the flooring industry has evolved, noted Gary Verhey, FIANA’s president, a majority of the FIANA distributor members have expanded and/or diversified into distributing finished floor covering materials.“In most cases, however, the accessory and supply products for installing floor coverings remains the major portion of the business, and a review of the by-laws of the association was needed. The flooring materials for consideration, but not limited to, are LVT, wood, laminate, vinyl, ceramic tile, etc.”

The board also approved consideration for membership of products manufactured outside of the U.S. and Canada due to the growing global economy. “The board still reserves the right for final approval of all new members after submission of a new membership form,” he said.
