Offering the beauty of hardwood, the durability of laminate

Toronto — TORLYS has introduced TerraWood hybrid floors to retailers across Canada. TORLYS TerraWood is an industry first, an eco-friendly hybrid wood floor, made in Germany and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified with a unique blend of softwood and hardwoods melded into a durable dent resistant wood plank. A new 14-step patented colour integration process fuses colour directly onto the plank creating the look and feel of hardwood but the wear and fade resistance of laminate.

TORLYS TerraWood hybrid floors are available in ten styles of classic domestic and exotic wood looks, such as Rocky Mountain Oak, Blackcomb Walnut and Kinabalu Teak. TORLYS TerraWood comes in smooth or gently textured surfaces in three lengths (51”; 30-3/4”; 20” length x 4” width x 1/2” thickness) for a visually interesting appeal.  Each plank is backed with TORLYS CorkPlus attached cork underlay for warmth and comfort, and features Microban antimicrobial protection to help eliminate mould and mildew growth. Exceptionally durable, the TORLYS smart finish on TerraWood is made of  a tough aluminum oxide urethane finish for an AC3 type wear resistance that is only found in laminates. Included with purchase is a 30-year wear and fade warranty and a limited lifetime no-gapping warranty. This floor can be moved up to two times under warranty and TORLYS offers an industry-first trade-in value on a future TORLYS purchase.

“Specialty retailers tell us constantly that they want to sell differentiated products, products that aren’t available in big box or low-end discounters”, said Peter Barretto, president and CEO.  “We believe TORLYS TerraWood fufills this need as it is a unique product for consumers who want the look and beauty of hardwood and the durability of laminate at an affordable price. We’ve engineered added features into this hybrid floor – it’s FSC certified, CARB compliant, 100% of the log is used in the production process and it’s made with only natural resins, with no added formaldehyde. It’s a quiet and warm floor with the CorkPlus attached cork underlay. A lot has been built into this floor – beauty, environmental responsibility and performance.”

TORLYS TerraWood was first introduced in 2009 to the Canadian home builder market, and has been well-accepted by the builder community. Over one million square feet have been installed or specified by well-known builders such as Andrin Homes, Cressey, Fernbrook Homes, Liberty Developments, Minto, Monarch, Morningstar, Parklane, Proment, Times Group, and Tridel.

TORLYS smart floors also introduced a world’s first – TORLYS Threshold Low Profile Moulding, a new 2 mm T-moulding for smoother transitions without speed bumps when adjoining floors of identical height.
