Dalton—Mohawk Industries is excited to announce the extension of its popular Decorate for the Cure fundraising program through 2014. Since June 2011, Mohawk and Karastan have donated a portion of all Mohawk SmartCushion and Karastan Karastep Reserve Cushion sales to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The brands have raised more than $100,000 for ongoing breast cancer research through the Decorate for the Cure campaign.

“We are so proud of the Decorate for the Cure program and the way that our Mohawk and Karastan retail partners have supported it,” said David Duncan, senior vice president of marketing, Mohawk and Karastan. “We truly have the best retailers in the business, and they have embraced this opportunity to give back to their local communities. Despite our success, there is still more work to do to identify the cures for breast cancer. This is why we felt it was important to extend Decorate for the Cure beyond 2012.”

As part of the program’s extension, Mohawk and Karastan are also doubling their minimum donation guarantee. The premier flooring brands will donate at least $200,000 from SmartCushion and KaraStep Reserve sales to Susan G. Komen by the end of 2014.

“We all know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and during that month everyone talks about the benefits of early detection, and getting screened for breast cancer is top of mind,” added Duncan. “But, October only comes around once each year. With Decorate for the Cure, our retail partners can engage in these important discussions every single day with their customers. Not only are we raising money for cancer research, but by working together, we’re also increasing awareness. It’s an important discussion and we feel honored that Mohawk and Karastan can help give voice to the conversation.”

Mohawk Industries first partnered with Komen in 2001.The flooring company has contributed almost $4 million dollars to Komen over the past decade.
