Dalton—The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) recently recognized Shaw with the Seven Seals award and the Pro Patria award, which is the highest award given at the State level. Both awards recognize Shaw’s significant support of associates in the National Guard and Reserve.
The Pro Patria Award is presented annually by each ESGR State committee to employers that have demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees through their leadership and practices. The Seven Seals Award is presented at the discretion of the State chair or by ESGR senior leadership. It is given in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement or initiative that promotes and supports the ESGR mission.
The team at Shaw works closely with associates who are in the Guard and Reserve to ensure that they are able to meet their commitments to the nation. As a community, Shaw associates have provided a support network for their coworkers who have been deployed by sending cards, emails, letters, care packages and gift cards.
ShawVET, the company’s employee resource group for veterans, is dedicated to “serving those who have served.” The group works closely with National Guard and Reserve Units within the communities to support back to school drives, holiday celebrations and the annual National Guard Ball. Shaw also installed new carpet at the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Chattanooga.
