In this dual role, she will be responsible for: crafting news stories and feature articles; copyediting and proofreading content; and attending industry trade shows and events. Moreover, she will provide assistance in content creation for the FCNews website while helping engage the magazine’s audience across its various social media channels. She will report directly to Megan Salzano, senior editor and digital director, and Reginald Tucker, managing editor.

“Elisabeth comes to FCNews with not only relevant journalistic skills and experience, but she also brings a positive, enthusiastic attitude and an exemplary work ethic,” Tucker said. “She’s also a quick study and consistently looks for ways to pitch in to help the staff whenever needed. We predict Elisabeth will be able to get up to speed in a relatively short timeframe.”

Prior to joining FCNews, McGowan served as a newsletter editor and social media manager with Ampere Business Services. While there, she was responsible for expanding the B2B audience of Indoor Billboard Network. She also had a hand in increasing engagement and views across the client’s social media channels. Before that, she worked as editor of Odyssey Online, where she led a team of student writers in the development of weekly story pitches and creative writing assignments.

McGowan said she is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way. “I’m excited to gain more experience in publishing with FCNews,” she said. “It’s a privilege to work with such a dedicated and creative team, one that I can learn from while applying my skills. I hope that my background will help the publication continue to move forward in a strong direction.”

McGowan earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, Theatre/Dance (dual degree) from the University of California, Davis.
