MattMasterNew York—Benchwick, a division of Northann Building Solutions, established in 2013 and serving the U.S., Canada and Europe with innovative 3D printing for any interior surface, has developed MattMaster, an electronic beam technology to cure protective coatings for flooring and other interior surfaces.

“The conventional curing process of coatings for flooring and other interior surfaces has drawbacks found primarily in the manufacturing process where a lot of energy is generated to develop sufficient heat and curing time,” said Lin Li Li, owner, Benchwick. “Our new technology is a green, safe approach that significantly reduces environmental impact.”

The patent-pending Benchwick MattMaster electron beam curing process relies on the high energy of accelerated electrons that creates a bridging density in resin molecules, saving energy to produce high product performance that’s durable, environmentally sound and easy-to-clean, according to the company.

Other applications include:

  • MattMaster creates superior water-resistant dimensional stability to flooring, eliminating curling and cracking
  • MattMaster Coating Strengthening layer protects interior surfaces

The MattMaster process results in several benefits in the finished product, according to Li, regardless of whether the flooring is rigid core, wood, laminate, etc. “We can deliver a super low gloss with perfect consistency, anti-stain, anti-bacterial performance and color fading resistance for over 10 years,” Li said. “Plus, the finish will surpass the standard Martindale A1 B1 test on any substrate.”
