FCNewStyle and DesignHuntington, N.Y.—Floor Covering News is seeking nominations for its inaugural FCNewStyle & Design Awards Competition. The contest, which is open to all industry manufacturers and suppliers, represents an opportunity for suppliers to benchmark themselves against their competitors and prove style and design as a separator.

The competition will be separated into six categories: Carpet, Resilient, Wood, Ceramic, Laminate and Area Rugs. There will be a winner and honorable mention for each category. Any product introduced in 2024 is eligible to be entered. Voting will occur throughout the month of August. Best of all—there is no cost to enter the competition.

“Winning an FCNewStyle & Design award puts your product on an elevated platform, gaining it immediate industry recognition,” said Steven Feldman, FCNews co-publisher. “Everybody knows that style and design are the main drivers of consumer purchases. So, what we decided to do was provide exposure and acknowledgment of those manufacturers that are stepping up their style and design in the minds of their customers, specialty retailers.”

How it works: Suppliers may submit their product with name, brief description and two photos—one room scene and a product shot. Voting is conducted by flooring retailers online, allowing equal chances of winning for every participant. Winners will be announced in the Sept. 16 issue as part of a photo spread and will be promoted long after in the pages of FCNews and online.

The benefits of winning an FCNewStyle & Design Award include:

  • Industry visibility for your brand
  • Positioning as a design-oriented company and enhanced image
  • Content for your communications
  • Exposure to 11,000+ flooring dealers, including both existing and potential customers.

The FCNewStyle & Design Competition builds on the magazine’s long history of recognizing industry achievement. There’s the Award of Excellence, now in its 28th year, which recognizes those manufacturers that are helping retailers make money and be more successful. Then there’s the Best of Surfaces contest, which recognizes new products, innovation, technology and design at the industry’s most important trade show. Several years ago, FCNews launched the FCNnovation awards, which recognizes industry-disruptive innovations in various technologies. “So, it’s only a natural progression that we now recognize companies that excel in style and design,” Feldman noted.

Manufacturers are encouraged to submit their product nominations via email to megan@fcnews.net Remember: Suppliers are asked to submit one product (per category) that they believe sets them apart from other products in that category. The nominated products will be featured online for retailers to vote on.
