LYNNWOOD, WASH.—The 2nd annual Northwest Market & Trade Show, an event hosted by the Washington State Floor Covering Association (WSFCA) and held recently at the Lynnwood Convention Center, was a “huge success,” according to Debbie Tott, the organization’s executive director.

“Attendance was up by 30% this year with a wide variety of flooring dealers along with designers, architects and installers who traveled from every region in the state to attend,” she explained. “There was a lot of activity and energy throughout the day. In addition to continuing education classes, demonstrations and a vast array of new products and services displayed by 70 vendors, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network and see many industry members all in one place.

“And congratulations are in order for Dave Howe of Island ’s Best Interiors,” she noted, “the lucky winner of an iPad sponsored by Denali Slab & Tile Studio.

A total of three seminars were offered at the show, including: “Color Pulse 2012,” “Healthy Indoor Air Quality by Design,” and “Are You Still Using 8-Track Marketing in an iTunes World?”

Todd Pierce of the Finishing Trades Institute seemed very impressed with the second year event. “This show was a great success. Our attendees—from members, shop owners and staff—all told me this event was more productive than Surfaces. The local area interaction has far more bang for the buck.”

Rod Norman of Division 9 Flooring liked the fact that his “representatives were there showing me the items. They know me and my business already, so they can gear their presentation toward what I do.”

“All the new current information and great ideas” were a key attraction for Lisa Kihm of LDK Designs.

Bob Simonoff of West Shores Interiors was happy with the fact that, “as compared to Surfaces, I can do business with any vendor represented there.”

CorkArt’s John Luttrell thought the event was a “very good, well rounded show,” while Mohawk’s Gary Gove was impressed with the “good mix of dealers.”

Ernie Humphrey, also with Mohawk said, “Hat’s off to all the WSFCA management and committee participants.”

Tom Ryan of Tom Ryan Floors said it was a “great show. Thanks to WSFCA and all my vendors.”

Tim Thompson of the Cronin Co. and Rick Tipton of Interiors Northwest of Puyallup did a fantastic job co-chairing this event, noted Tott. “The adjustments that the committee made after the first year of the show in 2010 were excellent and proved very beneficial in the second year. Attendees and vendors alike were enthusiastic, and plans are already underway for the 2012 Northwest Market & Trade Show,” she said.
