DALTON—The Carpet & Rug Institute director of government relations Jennifer Mendez has been chosen to serve as the 2011/2012 secretary to the board of directors of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC), a national association for multi-state government affairs professionals. Mendez, who has served on the SGAC board since 2008, was elected to the position by SGAC membership in August at the group’s annual meeting in San Antonio.
According to the group’s website, in addition to providing opportunities for networking and professional development, the SGAC conducts educational activities that benefit council members, legislative and public policy organizations and their members, strengthens the interaction and understanding between and among SGAC members and state government officials and champions professional and ethical standards in government relations. SGAC as an organization does not take positions on matters of public policy, but through its members seeks to enhance policymakers’ knowledge of various business perspectives.
