Shanghai—Visitors to the 14th annual Domotex asia/ChinaFloor (DACF) show March 27 to 29 here will have far more to see as organizers have expanded not only the show’s floor space but also the context within which Asia’s largest floor covering show takes place.

With China, and all of Asia for that matter, continuing to outpace the rest of the world in overall growth, DACF will be held concurrently with China Building Construction Expo (CBC), the oldest major construction event in China, and R+T Asia, the region’s most important trade show for such things as wood plastic composites, doors, gates, roller shutters and sun protection.

VNU Exhibitions Asia, organizer of the events, expects the combined shows to attract more than 100,000 attendees (40,000 just for DACF) and over 3,000 exhibitors (more than 1,000 will be for DACF). There will also be more than 100 professional and technical seminars between the three events. And all of it on the grounds of the Shanghai New International Expo Center.

DACF will occupy 11 of the exhibition center’s halls with the other five halls being used for CBC and R+T Asia. CBC will incoporate a number of events within it, including Green Building China (GBC), China Sustainable Building Forum & Expo, and Shanghai International Landscape Design and Urban Construction Expo.

“Organizing these events alongside each other brings new value for [everyone involved],” noted David Zhong, president of VNU Exhibitions Asia.” For exhibitors, it increases exposure of their products and technologies to new audiences; for attendees, it increases their exposure to a range of new products and ideas.

“It also gives our attendees and exhibitors new exposure to green building products, technology and design across the construction industry,” he added, “and creates opportunity for much broader networking,”

The green building Zhong mentions refers to GBC. “In 2012, we will lead the green revolution and make this a future-oriented event. People crave for an environment where they can live in harmony with nature. Combining Eastern philosophy and modern Western technologies can create a better future for mankind.” As such, GBC will include three themed related events: Eco City Summit, Sustainable Integrated Real Estate Forum and Shanghai Architecture Fair, under the mission: “Chinese wisdom, modern tech-nologies and eco-cities can change the future.”

“GBC endeavors itself promoting eco-preservation and sustainable development alongside with China’s vast urbanization process,” Zhong said, adding in total, the combined event is “an opportunity for networking across the construction industry and we hope it creates powerful synergies for everyone.”

This is important, he added, because China is evolving from being the largest producer of flooring in the world to also the largest consumer and, combined with its burgeoning construction industry, “this creates new opportunities for manufacturers and the entire global flooring industry. Asia offers a great future for the flooring industry and untold business opportunities happening now.”
