Chris Knight from the City of Stillwater presented the award to Armstrong Flooring’s Melissa Gazaway at the Stillwater plant.

Stillwater, Okla.—Armstrong Flooring, Inc., was named the business winner in the 30th annual Environmental Excellence Awards sponsored by Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, as a result of environmental stewardship efforts at the company’s Oklahoma plant, located here.

“Armstrong Flooring is committed to improving the quality of life in the communities where we operate,” said Melissa Gazaway, operations manager in Stillwater. “In keeping with that spirit, the Stillwater plant has a long history of reducing its environmental footprint and continuously looking for ways to produce flooring in a sustainable manner.”

Armstrong Flooring redesigned its felt-backed vinyl sheet flooring product, which has been manufactured in Stillwater since 1987. The redesign, which began June 2020, replaced the traditional felt backing. By the end of 2020, the redesign project will reduce process waste being sent to the landfill and will increased the plant’s overall annual waste recovery rate, the company said.
