From its beginnings as Bamboo Hardwoods in 1995 to becoming the fully integrated U.S. extension of global manufacturer YongYu, BHW Floors has built its success on innovation, trusted relationships and a commitment to serving the changing needs of the flooring industry.
In 1995, bamboo flooring was still unfamiliar to much of the American market. Hardwood remained the established choice while interest in renewable materials was only beginning to influence how consumers, designers and retailers thought about flooring. It was in that environment that Bamboo Hardwoods was founded.
The company began with a focused mission: introduce high-quality bamboo flooring and demonstrate why this fast-renewing material deserved a place alongside traditional hardwood. Doing so required education, persistence and a willingness to challenge assumptions about what a beautiful, durable floor could be.
More than 30 years later, that willingness to look beyond the familiar still defines the company.
“BHW Floors has always been willing to evolve,” said Jason Grant, vice president of BHW Floors. “Innovation is not something we recently added to our story. It has been part of our identity since 1995, when the company entered the market with a product category many customers had never considered.”
Building a foundation in bamboo
Bamboo gave the company its beginning, its name and a clear point of view. From the start, Bamboo Hardwoods emphasized design, performance and environmental responsibility. The company developed expertise in the material and built its reputation by helping flooring professionals understand its construction and installation.
Those early years also established a philosophy that would prove more durable than any one product category: earn trust through product knowledge, responsive service and relationships built for the long term.
As bamboo gained acceptance, Bamboo Hardwoods grew with it. Its products reached retailers across the country while its experience in sourcing, manufacturing and quality control created a foundation for future expansion.
But no flooring category—or company—stands still. Waterproof performance became an expectation. Wider planks reshaped design trends. Digital printing improved realism while rigid core and hybrid constructions changed resilient flooring. To continue serving its customers, Bamboo Hardwoods needed to become more than a bamboo specialist.
A transformational partnership
The most important turning point came in 2016 when YongYu, the company’s primary manufacturing partner, acquired Bamboo Hardwoods. The acquisition did far more than change ownership. It connected the U.S. business directly to the manufacturing organization and made the company YongYu’s fully integrated extension in the United States.
Many flooring products sold in the United States are manufactured overseas, but the companies marketing them may operate several steps removed from the factory. Questions about specifications, quality, production or product development can move through multiple intermediaries before reaching the right people.
BHW’s model is different. Its U.S.- based team operates as part of the manufacturing organization rather than as an importer purchasing from an unrelated supplier. Customers communicate with professionals in the United States who understand their market and are directly connected to the people responsible for making the product.
“Our customers should never feel as though they are sending a question overseas and hoping it reaches the right person,” Grant said. “They have a team here in the United States that understands their business, advocates for them and has a direct connection to manufacturing. That gives customers greater confidence that they are being heard and taken care of.”
This integration creates a direct exchange of information. Feedback from retailers, distributors, builders and national accounts can move from the marketplace to product development and manufacturing. The U.S. team also gains greater visibility into production, quality control and supply-chain decisions.
For customers, the benefit is not simply global manufacturing scale. It is having that scale connected to a responsive domestic team that can communicate clearly, resolve issues and remain accountable.
Becoming BHW Floors
By 2018, the company’s direction had expanded beyond what the name Bamboo Hardwoods could communicate. Bamboo remained an important part of its heritage and offering, but the business was moving into engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl, rigid core flooring, laminate and hybrid constructions.

Rebranded as BHW Floors
The new identity preserved more than two decades of recognition while creating room for a broader future. It also signaled that the company was no longer defined by one material.
“The rebrand was not about walking away from our bamboo heritage,” Grant said. “It was about honoring where we started while making sure our name reflected where we were going. Bamboo taught us to recognize opportunity early, and that mindset continues to guide every category.”
Today, the portfolio spans bamboo, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl, waterproof laminate, glue-down and loose-lay products, and hybrid and rigid core technologies. Each category addresses a specific need, but the philosophy remains consistent: deliver meaningful performance, distinctive visuals and dependable value.
Innovation with a purpose
For BHW Floors, expanding the portfolio is not simply about adding collections. The goal is to identify products that solve real problems for customers and consumers.
That approach can be seen in waterproof laminates with realistic textures, engineered hardwood featuring wider formats and modern finishes, and resilient flooring created for active homes and demanding environments. Across categories, BHW continues to invest in surface protection, visual realism, installation performance and value.
One of the clearest examples of the company’s current direction is Reserve, featuring Pureform PETG technology. Reserve uses a PVC-free PETG core designed to combine moisture resistance and dimensional stability with exceptionally realistic wood visuals.
A defining feature of Reserve is its extensive visual variation. The collection features 70 unique plank designs before a visual repeat, minimizing the obvious pattern repetition that can make manufactured flooring appear artificial. When installed across a room, the expanded design library creates the varied, natural appearance consumers expect from genuine wood.
Reserve also incorporates TrueDepth texture, which aligns the surface detail with the direct 3D printed wood design, along with Aluminer Ultra surface protection. Together, the PVC-free core, coordinated texture and 70-plank no-repeat design bring thoughtful material selection, high-performance construction and exceptional visual realism into one product.
Relationships remain the constant
Products may begin a conversation, but relationships have sustained BHW Floors for more than three decades.
The company serves independent retailers, distributors, builders, commercial partners and national accounts. Each channel has different needs, yet all depend on clear communication, consistent follow-through and confidence that a supplier will remain accountable after the sale.
