Solon, Ohio—Tarkett has launched In the Making, a new carpet collection designed for education and workplace environments.
The collection draws inspiration from the creative process and the ways ideas gradually take shape. It includes three patterns: Traced, Preparation and Gestural.
“Rooted in restraint and nuance, In the Making captures the conscious contemplation where creativity is formed,” said Omoleye Simmons, vice president of design for Tarkett North America. “Each style is an exploration of subtle movement, softened geometry and textural depth—bringing rhythm, balance and visual interest without overwhelming the space.”
Tarkett offers the three styles in 12 colorways. Each is available in ethos carpet tile, Flex-Aire cushion carpet tile and Powerbond hybrid carpet.
Three patterns inspired by the creative process
Traced features a layered, cross-directional linear pattern. The design creates a textural grid with subtle movement. Tarkett drew inspiration from the marks and imprints left behind during the creative process.
Preparation uses an abstract, deconstructed linear pattern to create movement and layered texture. Its hand-painted aesthetic brings a contemporary look to commercial interiors.
Gestural translates expressive, freeform mark-making into a modular pattern. Scattered rectangles and rhombus-like shapes create a less structured composition designed to evoke spontaneity.
Multiple performance options
All three styles are available in three constructions, giving designers options for different performance and comfort needs.
Powerbond hybrid carpet is designed for demanding environments. It provides durability, moisture management and ease of maintenance. Chemically welded seams create a wall-to-wall impermeable moisture barrier.
Powerbond RS was the world’s first Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly soft surface flooring, according to Tarkett. Testing showed dry vacuuming can remove 95% of allergens.
Ethos carpet tile is designed for high-traffic spaces that require easier installation. It is non-PVC, Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver v. 5.0 and Declare Red List Free. It also contains up to 78% recycled content.
Tarkett can recycle the ethos backing into new material through its ReStart take-back and recycling program. The product also features Omnicoat Technology. The barrier helps prevent moisture, pH or previous adhesives from affecting installation.
Flex-Aire cushion carpet tile combines durability with underfoot comfort. Tarkett designed it for environments where people stand or walk for extended periods. Its construction also helps keep liquids and soil at the surface for easier cleaning.
Powerbond, ethos and Flex-Aire use Dynex SD, a premium cationic nylon made with 100% recycled fiber resin. Tarkett also treats the products with Eco-Ensure, a fluorine-free soil protection technology.
Eco-Ensure holds a Cradle to Cradle Certified Material Health Certificate at the Gold level. The technology helps resist soiling from oils and organic materials while supporting low-VOC emissions.
The entire In the Making collection is part of Tarkett’s ReStart take-back and recycling program.
