Hicksville, N.Y.—Flooring Industries, the intellectual property company of the Unilin Group, has signed a settlement agreement with Multisol, a flooring importer and distributor based in Quebec, Canada.

The settlement provided financial compensation of an undisclosed figure for Multisol’s past imports and sales of flooring manufactured by Yekalon with alleged infringing technology. It also established an agreement to not infringe on Unilin patent rights in the future.

In Europe, Pergo said it has successfully defended a European patent related to flooring panels with a digitally-printed design applied directly to the core of the carrier.

Executives at Pergo said a claim for complete revocation of the patent had been made in the European Patent Office and that the decision reinforced Pergo’s position in the field of digital printing and flooring surface design.
