Dallas—Berry Floor, Alloc, and Flooring Industries, the intellectual property company of the Unilin group, have entered into a patent cooperation whereby Flooring Industries will become responsible for the sublicensing of specific patent portfolios owned by Berry Floor and Alloc. These patent portfolios relate to bevel technology in floor and furniture planks, fire retarding plank technology, and laser technology for the manufacture of flooring planks.

“Berry Floor has been successfully implementing laser technology in its manufacturing process since the end of 2008,” said Carl Schulze, CEO of Berry Floor. “Technology has been optimized since then and is now ready to be licensed out to third parties. With this cooperation, we will be able to use Flooring Industries’ licensing expertise and customer network to optimize commercialization of the technology.”

“We are very pleased to partner with Berry Floor and Alloc,” said Bart Van der Stockt, managing director, Flooring Industries. “We have entered into similar cooperation agreements with Välinge  for click technology, Frati for digital printing technology, and with Windmöller for LVT click systems in past years, which have proven to be successful. We are looking forward to offering this laser technology and the other Berry patent portfolios to interested parties during the upcoming trade fairs”.
