CHICAGO—The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) has selected market research firm Kadence International to conduct an upcoming member needs survey.

In response to a changing floor covering market and the economic downturn, NAFCD is surveying its members this summer to better understand what they need to thrive, and how NAFCD can help members succeed as they forge ahead. Kadence International was selected to execute the research collection and analysis based on its experience and understanding of the floor covering industry.

“NAFCD’s leaders recognize that the organization needs to adjust how we serve the industry,” said Michelle Miller, NAFCD’s executive director. “It was the decision of the board to invest in this worthwhile survey and take the time to determine what members need and how NAFCD can help them succeed. After several interviews NAFCD selected Kadence as their vendor of choice to conduct this survey.  Kadence has demonstrated that they are familiar with the industry, and can apply additional insights into the data they collect from members.”

NAFCD members may receive a call or an email from a Kadence International representative in mid to late July. This personal outreach will allow NAFCD members to express additional thoughts and view as they respond to questions.

“Gathering input from a wide range of members is the best possible way to get an accurate read on existing needs throughout the floor covering industry,” said Owen Jenkins, chief Executive of Kadence International’s North America branch. “NAFCD has made a wise decision to gather and consider this kind of information before developing and acting on a new strategy.”

With the insights gained through the upcoming research effort, NAFCD plans to finalize a new strategic direction by the fall of 2011, and will be highlighted at the 2011 Distributor Marketplace.
