MARIETTA, GA.—Wools of New Zealand (WONZ) launched its Wool for a Better World program this month—an annual event for consumers who love wool carpet and rugs and for WONZ Premier Partner retailers eager to talk about the benefits of living with wool products.

WONZ’ participating mill partners will offer Premier Partner retailers a minimum 10% off wholesale prices for WONZ brand products during the promotion, which began Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15. And consumers will see savings on a large selection of wool floor coverings, all carrying the WONZ brand, a symbol of excellence in wool carpets and rugs, noted Hallie Cobb, executive director of North America. But this is not just a sale event.

“Wool for a Better World is an exciting way for us to spread the news about wool’s beauty, and health and safety benefits, while differentiating our showrooms that are committed to wool,” she explained. Plus, as part of the promotion, WONZ will make a donation to Shear Joy, a Heifer International program that provides sheep to needy families in Third World countries.

Retailers appreciate the potential of the event for driving showroom traffic and setting them apart from their competitors. “Through its Premier Partner program, WONZ is energizing the market by bringing top industry players together to raise the awareness of and sales for wool,” said Sam Presnell, owner of The Rug Gallery in Cincinnati. “Wool for a Better World is just one of the many ways WONZ is utilizing the strength of its partners to make things happen.”

More than 20 mills are participating in this event along with an exclusive group of showrooms committed to wool. “We are excited to be a part of it and appreciate all WONZ is doing to differentiate our store and increase our selling power,” Presnell added. WONZ supports the high-profile event by providing retailers with a number of creative elements, including print and Internet ads, emails, posters, window decals and an event-specific website— woolforabetterworld.com. WONZ Premier Partners will be running ads in their local markets to promote Wool for a Better World.
