Surfaces to promote health of the flooring industry

HomeNewsSurfaces to promote health of the flooring industry

In an effort to kick off the promise of a fruitful 2012, the Flooring Covering Industry Foundation (FCIF), Hanley Wood Exhibitions and the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) have come together to promote a campaign aimed not just at the health of the flooring industry but at the health of its individual members.

The promotion will run for all three days of Surfaces, January 24th through 26th. It will consist of a centrally located themed booth just outside of the Exhibit Hall on level 1 of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The booth will be staffed with teams of up to ten professional nurses offering free confidential check-ups to Surfaces and StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas attendees. Screenings will include: total cholesterol, blood sugar analysis, blood pressure and body mass index. After the tests each participant will be provided with immediate personalized results of the tests taken. Areas of concern and suggested next steps will be provided. No medical information regarding any participant will be retained and absolute individual privacy is assured.

“The campaign is designed to promote industry health by focusing within, on the people that make up the industry, said Chris Davis, President & CEO, of both FCIF and WFCA . “As Ralph Waldo Emerson so famously put it, ‘The first wealth is health’ and this quote exemplifies what this campaign is about and why we are doing it. There are factors affecting businesses today that we cannot control, but health is not one of them. By offering free screenings and suggested continued care guidelines we hope to do our part in helping to give the industry a jump start to kick off a healthy 2012, and create awareness that FCIF is there for those who face catastrophic illness and financial hardship.”

“It goes without saying that maintaining good health is not always easy. An old saying goes, ‘The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like, and do what you’d rather not,’” said Dana Teague, Group Director, Hanley Wood Exhibitions. “It is our sincere hope that these free screenings will be just the stimulus industry members
