Home News Shaw floors featured in 2012 southern living idea house

Dalton, Ga. – Shaw Floors’ popular Epic hardwood and Anso nylon carpet will be featured in the celebrated 2012 Southern Living Idea House. Nestled in the cozy southern town of Senoia, Ga., this celebrated home project centers around the revival of an early 19th century cottage-style farmhouse, masterfully designed by a noted team of architects at Historical Concepts, of Peachtree City, Ga.

“We are excited to feature Shaw’s inviting Anso nylon carpet and classic Epic hardwood floors into a farmhouse revival project that brings our common southern roots to life,” said Kathy Young, Shaw Floors’ director of marketing. “The 2012 Southern Living Idea House team, in conjunction with designers from Historical Concepts, chose some of Shaw’s most eco-friendly, American-made floor styles, and the result is a magical experience for the home visitor. This nostalgic farmhouse truly provides an opportunity to take a step back in time.”

Offering almost 3,200 square feet of living space, the 2012 Southern Living Idea House features Shaw’s Epic hardwood in the Brushed Suede style throughout the home. Chosen in the Sugar Cane color, this hand-scraped hardwood floor offers a stunningshade of rich honey brown. Included in the upstairs bedroom and guest suite is Shaw’s Artful Details carpet style, from the Anso nylon collection. With a durable loop construction in Shaw Floors’ Fossil color, this carpet incorporates an inviting shade of grey into this relaxing, classic home.

Located 25 miles from Atlanta, Senoia, Ga. offers rustic beauty and small-town charm. Featuring quintessential southern architecture, the town has long been a reliable location for artistic endeavors; the town’s main street was featured in the classic film Driving Miss Daisy. Doubling as a back lot for popular film and TV projects such as the classic Fried Green Tomatoes and AMC’s current hit, The Walking Dead, Senoia has quite a few claims to fame, but dig a little deeper and visitors will find a community committed to eco-friendly construction and design.

This year’s Southern Living Idea House was completed with the help of John Bynum Custom Homes, Inc., one of the Atlanta area’s premier custom home builders; Senoia’s Historic Development Ventures, LLC; and nationally-recognized interior design firm, Tracery Interiors.

This farmhouse revival project is expected to draw as many as 40,000 visitors from across the country, and Southern Living magazine is scheduled to feature it in the August 2012 issue. The home will be open for tours from June 2 to December 23, 2012, Wednesday – Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. The Idea House will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
