Johnson City, Tenn. – Representatives from Mullican Flooring, a leading U.S. hardwood floor manufacturer, were among dignitaries present at the “key ceremony” held in Miami for the 2012 HGTV Urban Oasis Giveaway.

The event was the finale for HGTV’s annual consumer promotion that allows online viewers to enter daily for chances to win a beautiful, fully furnished home located in a major metropolitan city.

During the 2012 finale, HGTV officials presented Urban Oasis winner James Walley with the key to the Miami residence. Walley is an IT professional who lives with his wife and two young sons in Houston.

Mullican Flooring is the exclusive hardwood flooring sponsor for this year’s giveaway – a 1,700-square-foot condominium located at Paramount Bay, a luxurious residential tower in Miami.

“It has been a great pleasure working with HGTV and seeing Mullican products used in such a beautiful, ultra-modern home,” says Mullican president Neil Poland. “We’re very proud to have been a part of the project and whole-heartedly congratulate Mr. Walley and his family on the win.”

This marks the third year that HGTV has conducted the Urban Oasis promotion and the second time that Mullican has been a sponsor.

Given the choice of any Mullican product, HGTV designer Lindsay Pumpa selected oak driftwood from Mullican’s Castillian Collection – a prefinished, engineered flooring – to use in the Miami residence.

Pumpa contends the wire-brushed, six-inch planks helped tie together all other elements in her design scheme.

“I knew I wanted dark flooring to make the white furniture pop but didn’t want to go as dark as an ebony stain, so when I saw the white wash grey oak I knew it was the perfect choice,” she notes. “I love that our hardwood floors have this great weathered look, like an old driftwood dock. [The flooring] was really my first inspiration to start mixing the natural weathered accent pieces with the new modern furniture. In the end, it really provided a great contrast in the condo.”

Flooring from Mullican’s Castillian Collection has been selected by two different designers for use on cable television renovation projects during 2012. The products are among more than 1,500 that the company provides consumers through 50 distributors and 5,000 retailers across the United States and Canada.

Headquartered in Johnson City, Tenn., Mullican ranks among the top five hardwood flooring producers in the country and operates additional manufacturing sites in Norton, Va.; Holland, N.Y.; and Ronceverte, W.Va.
