Cartersville, Ga. — Shaw Hospitality Group won Best of Show for Flooring and Best of Competition for the Be Bold collection at the 2013 Hospitality and Design Expo and Conference (HD Expo).  Held annually in Las Vegas, HD Expo is the premier trade show for the hospitality design industry, bringing together more than 900 exhibitors and 7,000 attendees to Las Vegas each May. Presented by Hospitality Design magazine, the show is at the forefront of the newest and most innovative products and services, encouraging and sharing ideas, providing inspiration and connecting the industry.

Be Bold is a fearless statement of layering patterns, color and texture. Graphic elements and dynamic black and white patterns create contrast and scale to transform a space. The innovation lies in the system of patterns, holistically designed to migrate throughout the space, which implements five transformation techniques to create a seamless experience for the user. Patterns communicate through layers to create endless design options—limited only by the imagination.

“We are honored to receive Best in Show for flooring and the Eric Engstrom Best of Competition awards,” said Sam Barry, director of retail and hospitality markets for Shaw Hospitality Group. “This validates our efforts to provide the hospitality industry with the highest quality flooring designs and products and marketing that truly inspire design creativity.”

Inspired by architectural elements and organic movement, the collection explores the juxtaposition between delicate, crystalline, linear shapes and dense concentrations of overlapping structures.

The collection’s range of small and large-scale patterns are a design catalyst that will translate into various manufacturing technologies.  Tufted, CYP and dye-injected print offer high-quality plush aesthetics to accommodate hospitality project budgets for guest rooms and public space.  The patterns are applicable for hospitality, and designed to be customized for the user’s style.  Designers can choose from a color bank of 288 solution-dyed colors for tufted and CYP carpet and 720 for dye-injected print.

The carpet nylon contains 45% recycled content and is Cradle to Cradle Certified by MBDC, and contributes to LEED points.  Cradle to Cradle backing is also available.  This product can be reclaimed from renovation sites, where it is sent to the manufacturer’s recycling facility where it will become new carpet again in an endless, closed-loop process.  Tufted carpet is backed by a lifetime warranty covering abrasive wear, static protection, stains and colorfastness.
