Saddle Brook, N.J.—Nourison has named Elliot Steel design director for the company’s hospitality division. Most recently, Steel worked as global design manager at Tai Ping Carpets International. In his new role, he will work to create innovative broadloom products for a wide range of commercial market segments. He will report to Jonny Peykar, vice president of Hospitality at Nourison.
Based in Nourison’s offices, warehouse and design facilities in Calhoun, Ga., Steel will be responsible for developing the division’s overall design and product strategy. He will work closely with Linda Jacobs, Nourison’s head designer, as well as the rest of the design team, to create innovative broadloom products for a wide range of commercial market segments.

Steel is a 25-year veteran of the carpet industry. Most recently, he worked as global design manager at Tai Ping Carpets International. Prior to that, he has held senior design positions at Brintons U.K., Forte Cloth, Interface Europe and Stoddard Carpets.
Steel was born in Hawick, Scotland, the home of cashmere and the Scottish wool industry. “Wool and carpets has always been in my blood and I’m thrilled to be part of such a talented group of designers, he said. “Nourison has a wonderful reputation in the commercial luxury broadloom sector. I’m looking forward to enhancing the product line and increasing our market share in the hospitality industry.”
