mannington commercialCalhoun, Ga.—Mannington Commercial has been awarded Gold and Silver honors for product design in the 2013 Nightingale Awards. Sponsored by Contract Magazine, The Center for Health Design and Healthcare Design 2013, the awards showcase the best in product design that contributes to the quality of healthcare.

Winning the Gold award for innovative design for healing environments is Enlighten, a groundbreaking development in the category of resilient sheet. An example of Mannington’s commitment to make the right choices available to customers, Enlighten’s polyolefin/rubber composite formulation—the result of several years of research and development—provides a vinyl alternative choice in a homogeneous sheet ideally suited to the demands of healthcare spaces.

Enlighten combines a strong aesthetic in the right gloss level with high performance, low maintenance, comfort underfoot, and enhanced acoustical properties, as well as 5% post consumer recycled content and 4% rapidly renewable resources.

The Silver award was given to Design Classics, a collection of textured, high-performance modular and broadloom carpet for healthcare and senior living facilities. Designed to work without overwhelming other design elements in a space, the collection brings together lyrically beautiful, large-scale patterns in classic and contemporary motifs, paired with a small-scale, modern interpretation of woven fabric. All in a palette of sophisticated colors that help make spaces livable, calming, and luxurious.

The collection is offered on Ultrabac broadloom backing, with minimum of 10% post-consumer recycled content, and on Integra HP broadloom and Infinity modular backings, which contain pre-consumer recycled content. Each option is certified NSF/ANSI-140 Platinum or Gold, as environmentally preferable products.
