Forbo expands capacity

HomeNewsForbo expands capacity

HAZLETON, PA.—Forbo has completed the first of a two-phase expansion to boost capacity at its Kirkcaldy, Scotland facility. The move is in response to demand for the company’s MCT and Marmoleum Dual Tile products exceeding all expectations resulting in lead times becoming “longer than acceptable.”

Theresa Lorenzi, manager of support services, said Forbo has made a substantial capital investment to continually improve service to it customers, noting the just-completed addition raised annual capacity by more than 60%.

She added the company will continue to improve product lead times by adding another 50% to its annual capacity by the beginning of next March. Once complete, Forbo’s global capacity will effectively be more than double what it had been when the MCT line was launched in 2009.

Scott Day, product line manager, Marmoleum, pointed out, while response for the MCT line continues to be “overwhelming” the phase one expansion will allow Forbo to meet customer demands in a more reasonable timeframe. “We would like reassure everyone that MCT will be available.”
