HomeNewsIndustry gives thanks to Mid Atlantic installers

FREDERICK, MD.—For the 7th consecutive year, Christmas was a little merrier for installers in the Delaware/ Maryland/Virginia area thanks to the help of a couple of area flooring associations.

Last month, the Delmarva Chapter of the International Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI), with the support of the Maryland Northern Virginia Floor Covering Association, hosted area installers for its annual Christmas Party.

“Seven years ago the Delmarva Chapter wanted to say thank you to the local CFI installers for all their hard work,” said Roland Thompson, Delmarva’s president. “Training is what the Delmarva Chapter is all about; we want to raise the bar on knowledge for the installers. And this event is a way to say thanks to those who have dedicated themselves to being the best.”

Over the years, he explained, word has spread and the party “became bigger than the chapter could do on it’s own and the Maryland Northern Virginia Association came in to help.” Thompson added that local distributor L. Fishman & Son has also come to the party since the beginning “by lending its support and efforts.”

In addition, he said the flooring community “has really come together for this event in order to give something back to the people who work so hard to install floors professionally.” Along with the above, Thompson cited the event has been supported for many years by suppliers, including Seam Master, Orcon, Duo-Fast, Mapei, Better Tools, AAT Technologies, Seamer Down, Schlüter and Roberts, and this year Allied products came to help the cause.

Plus, he pointed out CFI’s corporate office in Kansas City, Mo., once again leant its support to the effort.

“The Delmarva Chapter does an outstanding job of providing educational training through many venues,” noted Jim Walker, CFI’s CEO. “The Christmas party is another example of providing the installation community with an outpouring of gifts and donations from the numerous vendors that support CFI and for which we are most thankful. Installers who attend for the first time are shocked at the generosity of the supporters to encourage pride and professionalism. We appreciate the hours of work that many of the members contribute to make this time of year remembered warmly by the installer members.”
