DALTON—During the last week of August,  Hurricane Irene  damaged 12 states, five of which—Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut—were severally affected. To assist retailers and consumers living in those five states in getting back on their feet, Mohawk and Karastan are launching Operation Rebuild.

“We at Mohawk and Karastan wanted to help our retailers in the Northeast get their businesses operating again quickly and are happy to do our part in helping retailers and consumers alike get their lives back in working order,” said David Duncan, vice president of marketing at Mohawk Flooring. “Operation Rebuild will hopefully make it easier for retailers to focus on what’s most important; meeting the needs of customers and rebuilding their communities.”

An outreach campaign was developed to identify those most impacted by the storm. Mohawk and Karastan sales teams and credit departments will work together to help rebuild stores and provide retailers with the necessary credit to continue operations. Additionally, to help consumers affected in the Northeast, Mohawk and Karastan have prepared a very aggressive consumer finance offer with buy downs , allowing consumers to finance their flooring purchases at essentially no cost to them. Both soft and hard surface products are included in the promotion. Lastly, the companies are deploying key inventory to the Northeast to ensure retailers are prepared with adequate product needed to help get consumers back home quickly.
