Norfolk, Neb. — MP Global Products is a small business that takes pride in creating and maintaining jobs on U.S. soil with the manufacture of its extensive line of earth-friendly fiber acoustic floor underlayments. Respectful of environmental and social responsibilities to the planet, every month in the manufacturing process MP Global Products diverts 760 tons of post-industrial/pre-consumer fibers from landfill. That adds up to 9,120 tons of recycled fiber annually.

The company’s best known product is QuietWalk, a premium underlayment for laminate, engineered and floating hardwood flooring. Like MP Global Products’ other fiber underlayments, QuietWalk features both an earth friendly composition and an earth friendly manufacturing process.

QuietWalk is an ideal underlayment for any project where “green” and Made in America are desirable goals of the project owner. It fulfills parameters set by consumers concerned with the health of the earth and the health inside their homes or places of business.

SCS Certified for minimum 94% pre-consumer recycled textile content, QuietWalk features fibers that are sourced locally to the Norfolk, Nebraska, manufacturing plant, minimizing transportation costs, saving on landfill, and keeping the MP Global carbon footprint low.

QuietWalk is odorless, non-allergenic, and VOC-free. Furthermore, the antimicrobial in QuietWalk is Triclosan-free and does not carry the possible health risk associated with competing products that include Ultra-Fresh antimicrobial.

As in all MP Global Products fiber underlayments, randomly air-laid filaments create a capillary effect to cushion the floor, dampen ambient sound, and absorb impact sound and help make floating floors sound more like fastened wood.

In addition, QuietWalk features a special moisture management system that protects laminate floors from harmful moisture and that inhibits growth of mold and mildew. “The attached 3 mil moisture barrier protects wood, laminate, and LVT floors from harmful moisture,” explains Duane Reimer, technical director. “Provided the source of water such as a leak is stopped, QuietWalk’s absorbent padding will wick water and disperse it throughout the pad until it eventually evaporates or escapes through the subfloor.”

QuietWalk also adds an R-value of .50 to the floor system, helping keep floor warmer in winter and cooler in summer.

With just the right density and compression resistance to support the overlaying floor, QuietWalk is flexible enough to form around sub-floor surface roughness that may otherwise cause laminate panels to “rock” or lay unevenly.

Available in 3′ x 33.4′ 100 sq ft do-it-yourself rolls and 6′ x 60′ 360 sq ft contractor size rolls, QuietWalk is suitable for residential and commercial use over most types of industry approved new and existing substrates and is approved for use over radiant heated floors.
