Tandus Flooring was recognized with a Big Red Shoe award from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga at the organization’s annual meeting and scholarship awards banquet. The award recognizes Tandus Flooring’s contribution of hybrid resilient sheet flooring during renovations to Chattanooga’s Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House was forced to close for renovations in August of last year after mold was detected. The project was completed in November 2011 which included new flooring and many updates throughout the house.
“Tandus Flooring’s contribution played a huge part in getting the families back in the house as soon as possible,” said Jane Kaylor, Executive Director, Ronald McDonald House. “As an added bonus, the hybrid resilient sheet flooring is impermeable to moisture so we do not have to worry about mold in the flooring again!”
The award banquet hosted 225 people and in addition to recognizing companies and individuals with Big Red Shoe awards, the organization also awarded scholarships to 44 rising college freshman and five rising college sophomores from the region.
“I’ve been with Tandus Flooring for 12 years and receiving this award is truly humbling from an organization that does such great work in our area,” said Jim Harley, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing. “Being able to attend the banquet was rewarding itself with so many scholarships given to young adults in our region.”
