Dalton—Jennifer Mendez, Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) vice president for government relations was elected treasurer of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC) at the organization’s annual business meeting held August 8, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois. The State Government Affairs Council is the organization of state government relations professionals representing more than 185 major U.S. corporations and trade associations.
“I have always found great value in SGAC membership. I look forward to working with my peers to help shape SGAC’s programs and move SGAC forward as a first-class organization,” Ms. Mendez said. As treasurer, Ms. Mendez is on a path to become SGAC president in two years.
“During her ten-year career with CRI, Jenn Mendez has shown herself to be a tireless advocate for the carpet industry and its employees. Her input with state legislatures on carpet-related issues has been invaluable. It is only fitting she should be similarly recognized among her peers,” said CRI President Werner Braun.
