ANAHEIM, CALIF.—The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) has updated its Industry Certification program and reduced the initial application fee to $99 for members. Application fees remain at $249 for non-WFCA members.

Along with the fee reduction, changes to the program include: Written references are no longer required as part of the initial certification application process and certification renewal will now be every three years instead of two. These changes effect all three certification designations—Certified Flooring Executive (CFE), Certified Flooring Sales Consultant (CFS) and Certified Flooring Professional (CFP).

Also, education hours required for the initial certification have been reduced from 50 to 30 for CFE and from 30 to 20 for the CFS and CFP designations. The number of hours in continuing education required to renew certification for CFE has been increased from 10 to 15.

Finally, WFCA members who are certified under the program are now eligible to receive 75% in trade scholarship funds for approved training programs up to the maximum available. All other members receive 50%.
