Shaw sponsors first 2013 HGTV Smart Home Giveaway

HomeNewsShaw sponsors first 2013 HGTV Smart Home Giveaway

Dalton – Shaw Floors will be the exclusive flooring provider and sponsor of the first HGTV Smart Home Giveaway, set for spring 2013. As the flooring partner of choice, Shaw shares the excitement with the launch of the HGTV Smart Home, which incorporates energy-saving features and green living, along with the latest developments in home technology.

Smart home technology connects many features and devices, allowing occupants to monitor energy use and control home systems such as security, interior climate, lighting, and other electronics.

“Every year, Shaw and HGTV find new and different ways to collaborate, and the HGTV Smart Home is an excellent example,” said Kathy Young, director of marketing for Shaw Floors. “We’ve looked forward to participating in the Green Home project during each of the past five years, and we’re thrilled at the expansion of the program into the HGTV Smart Home. Our consumers are always inspired by the beautiful floors, creativity and design expertise displayed, and we can’t wait to see how they react to this welcoming smart home in 2013.”

Shaw will provide stylish and functional floors from the HGTV Home Flooring by Shaw collection to be featured in this highly anticipated show home in the Paradise Key South Beach community in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.

Having begun in 2008 as the HGTV Green Home, the HGTV Smart Home will continue to carry on a tradition of unique viewer interaction and architectural and design showmanship. Designed by architect Mike Stauffer, AIA, and built by Glenn Layton Homes, the HGTV Smart Home 2013 takes its inspiration from coastal Northeast Florida architecture. The flooring for the coastal-cottage-style home will feature carpet, hardwood, and area rugs from the HGTV Home Flooring by Shaw collection, as well as Shaw-branded tile and stone—all chosen by HGTV house planner Jack Thomasson and interior designer Linda Woodrum for their blend of functionality and beauty.

“The features and functionality of this home are like nothing we’ve ever offered in HGTV home giveaways, and set the standard for creative spaces and ways consumers can use emerging technology to improve their homes,” said Thomasson.

The featured flooring products include the luxurious Anso nylon carpet, Signature Style. Pemberton engineered hardwood is used throughout the whole house. Several stylish area rugs — Nirvana, Venezia, A Stitch in Time, Zara, and Luna de Luna—add lively color and pattern. Bangle glass block, Elements, Glass Essentials, Mixed Up, and Briarcliff are tile and stone products used to create unique character within the innovative home.

The HGTV Home Flooring by Shaw collection is part of the overarching HGTV Home brand, a complete assortment of branded home products, which includes such items as furniture, lighting and paint. The HGTV Home Flooring by Shaw program grew out of Shaw’s long-standing relationship with HGTV, including its sponsorship of the HGTV Green Home since 2008.

HGTV viewers and Shaw fans can enter for a chance to win the approximately 2,400-square-foot home this spring when the HGTV Smart Home Giveaway opens for entries from April 11 through May 31, 2013. More information is available at HGTV.com/smarthome. Odds of winning depend on number of entries received.

Fans can visit HGTV.com/smarthome for a virtual tour of the home.

Participation in projects like the HGTV Smart Home reflects Shaw’s commitment to sustainability leadership through the Shaw Green Edge, a company-wide business platform based on sustainability through innovation. A cornerstone to the company’s commitment is the Evergreen Nylon Recycling Facility and the Clear Path facility (where Shaw recycles plastic bottles for use in its ClearTouch line of carpets). Since 2006, Shaw has recycled more than 420 million pounds of post-consumer carpet, enough to cover 14,663 football fields. To learn more about the Shaw Green Edge, visit shawgreenedge.com.
