Lancaster, Pa.— Interior Design magazine has named Armstrong Residential Flooring’s Architectural Remnants laminate a Best 0f Year (BoY) honoree for 2013 in the Flooring – Hard Surface category. The BoY Awards is the preeminent design competition recognizing superior interior design products and projects.

This year’s Best of Year experienced record-breaking numbers: 1,800 submissions, which is 50% more than last year.  The product voting site experienced double the number of unique visitors (vs. 2012), netting 290,000 page views and 62,000 votes.

“Armstrong historically has been at the forefront of laminate innovation and design, and Architectural Remnants is perhaps our most unique laminate to date,” said Mara Villanueva-Heras, vice president of marketing for Armstrong Floor Products.  “Being recognized by this prestigious design group shows us that this line is on-point with our customers.”

Architectural Remnants is a collection that combines multiple species and colors that look as if they have withstood years of use or were pulled directly from a historic structure — in random widths and with extensive but intelligently applied embossed-in-register to provide the realistic graining, texture and depth of reclaimed wood.

In addition to the visual appeal of Architectural Remnants, the line also brings the benefits of laminate flooring.  With a 50-year residential warranty, Architectural Remnants boasts strength and durability, softness underfoot and low maintenance. In addition, the collection comes complete with VisionGuard and Hydracore Plus. VisionGuard helps to protect the floor’s surface from staining, fading and wear-through while Hydracore Plus is a solid core built into the middle of this product to allow it to feel more like real hardwood.

Over 900 people from the design community (designers and manufacturers) gathered at the state-of-the-art Frank Gehry design, IAC Building in NYC for the awards ceremony.  The auditorium was standing-room only, as the winners were announced live by hosts Cindy Allen, editor-in-chief, and Mark Strauss, president and publisher. This is the 8th annual Interior Design Best of Year Awards.
