Retailers React: What are homeowners looking for in carpet?

HomeFeatured PostRetailers React: What are homeowners looking for in carpet?

artificial intelligenceEvery two weeks, FCNews seeks out flooring retailers across the country to offer their advice on hot topics of the day. This week, we asked: What are homeowners looking for in carpet?

Here are their responses:

“Homeowners are looking for a product that will meet or exceed their expectations based on their lifestyle. The driving factor in the selection process is color, style and durability at a price that meets their budget. Carpet is still one of the best values for home remodeling projects.”

—Bruce Odette, Carpet Exchange Denver

“In the end, a client wants the very best wearability, stain resistance and warranty they can get within their budget. They also want to know that you will be there to service them if they have an issue and that you will be their agent in case the supplier needs to get involved.”

— DeGraaf Interiors Grand Rapids, Mich.

“Color is always the most important factor; durability is also a big factor. Many of our customers have pets and are looking for a carpet that can withstand that kind of use.”

—Susan Hadinger, Hadinger Flooring Naples, Fla.

“Homeowners tend to simultaneously look for style, warmth, comfort and ease of maintenance. Once they have found two to three carpets that appeal to those desires, they will drill down to the all-important color selection.”

—Kevin Frazier, Frazier’s Carpet One Floor & Home Knoxville, Tenn.

“They want to know that it will hold up to daily wear and be easily cleaned. They want to know that pet accidents won’t be a concern with respect to cleanability or void a warranty. After that, it’s about style and color. They want to express their personal style, and carpet is the perfect substrate to pull the elements together in a room.”

—Olga Robertson, FCA Network Shorewood, Ill.
