LivingSolon, Ohio—Tarkett has expanded its soft-surface portfolio with Living Contours, a carpet collection designed for senior living environments.

The collection draws inspiration from natural terrain, incorporating subtle geometry, organic patterns and tonal variations. Its designs reflect the movement of wind and water across landscapes.

“Movement within nature leaves behind contours that define surface and form. Wind traces the land, water carves gentle paths,” said Omoleye Simmons, vice president of design for Tarkett North America. “These markings evolve, layer by layer, creating patterns that feel both fluid and grounded.”

Six coordinated styles

Living Contours features six styles, each available in nine colorways. Designers can specify the collection across Powerbond hybrid carpet, ethos carpet tile and Flex-Aire cushion carpet tile.

“Each pattern in Living Contours reflects the subtle geometry of shifting terrain lines that bend, converge and disperse,” Simmons added. “Texture and tonal variation build through accumulation. Shapes emerge through repetition.”

The six patterns include:

  • Ridge Veil: Softened geometry and layered depth create a calm, cohesive appearance.
  • Canopy Thread: Abstract forms and layered light introduce subtle movement across the surface.
  • Fernmark: A softened zigzag pattern creates a feathered texture with an organic appearance.
  • Stone Current: Moss-like textures and circular patterns reflect gradual movement and continuity.
  • Mossline: Interconnected forms and subtle variations create an evolving geometric pattern.
  • Juniper Trace: Evenly spaced accents and textured layers deliver a balanced design.

Designers can customize the collection’s colors through Tarkett’s Carpet Recoloring Studio. The tool is part of the free Tailored by Tarkett visualizer suite. The platform allows designers to explore layouts, save swatches and find coordinating wall bases.

Performance and sustainability features

Tarkett engineered Living Contours to provide durability, permanent stain resistance and underfoot comfort in senior living spaces.

Powerbond hybrid carpet offers moisture management and durability for demanding environments. Its chemically welded seams create an impermeable moisture barrier across the floor. This construction helps prevent conditions that encourage microbial growth.

Powerbond RS is the first soft-surface flooring to earn Certified Asthma & Allergy Friendly certification. Testing showed that dry vacuuming removed 95% of allergens.

The ethos carpet tile option provides a non-PVC solution for high-traffic environments. It contains up to 78% recycled content and holds Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver v. 5.0 certification. The product is also Declare Red List Free.

Tarkett can recycle the ethos backing into new backing through its ReStart take-back and recycling program.

Omnicoat Technology helps protect installations against moisture, pH levels and residual adhesives, including on challenging substrates.

Flex-Aire cushion carpet tile provides added underfoot comfort for spaces where occupants frequently stand or walk. Its construction also helps keep liquids and soil near the surface for easier cleaning and maintenance.

All three flooring options feature Tarkett’s proprietary Dynex SD fiber system. The cationic nylon yarn uses 100% recycled fiber resin and features Eco-Ensure fluorine-free soil protection technology. Eco-Ensure holds a Cradle to Cradle Certified Material Health Certificate at the Gold level.

The entire Living Contours collection qualifies for Tarkett’s ReStart take-back and recycling program. Living Contours also joins the Tarkett Solution SPECtrum, which brings together flooring, accessories and customizable design options.
