Dalton – J+J Flooring Group has completed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 100% of its standard products. The company released EPDs for Invision brand products that use PremierBac, TitanBac and Nexus backing systems, adding to the EPDs introduced last September for Kinetex brand products and Invision modular styles with eKo backing.  J+J’s five EPDs are third-party certified by NSF 140.

An EPD is a transparent disclosure of the full lifecycle environmental impact of a product. Type III EPDs are critically reviewed by an unbiased third party and include environmental impacts from raw materials sourcing, manufacturing, installation, use and end of life. The declaration is based on verified, objective criteria according to ISO 14040/14044 standards.

“We now provide verified, transparent life cycle data on every standard product,” said Russ Delozier, J+J Flooring group director of sustainability. “We are among the first flooring manufacturers to complete this process for our full standard product line, responding to customer demand for a thorough overview of the environmental impact of the products they choose.”

An EPD includes data on every environmental touch point of a product. In addition to examining raw materials and manufacturing processes, the EPD also takes into account packaging, shipping, installation, cleaning and maintenance during product use, and the end-of-life impact of the product. J+J encourages reclamation and recycling of its products to return valuable raw materials to the manufacturing process.

Invision’s PremierBac, TitanBac and Nexus backings are certified to the NSF 140 Gold environmental standard.  Invision’s eKo backing and Kinetex brand products are NSF 140 Platinum certified.
