Novalis enters agreement with Unilin’s licensing division on COREtec

Toronto—Novalis Innovative Flooring has entered into an additional license agreement with Unilin’s licensing division under which its NovaCore product line (and other WPC-type products) will from now on also be licensed under the USFloors patent portfolio.

Novalis entered into a licensing arrangement with Unilin in early 2010, and was at that time one of Unilin’s first licensed partners for LVT flooring. This cooperation has since then been expanded by adding WPC flooring, Unifit fold-down technologies, Windmöller patent protection and now USFloors COREtec patent protection.

“Since day one [Unilin’s licensing division has] assisted us in developing the perfect locking for our clic LVT program, and in helping us to overcome patent issues with third parties,” said John Wu, president and CEO of Novalis. “Novalis highly respects intellectual property and is taking the necessary measures to make sure that Novalis and its customers cannot be held accountable for potential patent claims. As soon as we were informed that Unilin’s licensing team was allowed to grant licenses under the USFloors patent portfolio, we contacted them and did the necessary to be protected under these additional patents.”
