SAN DIEGO—Artistic Tile was honored by the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) with a special “Craft Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Tile Industry” during the group’s Executive Council meeting and awards ceremony here last month.

Artistic was given the honor for its collaboration on the design elements of the company’s new showroom in LuxeHome at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart in addition to, in the words of BAC president James Boland, the firm’s “remarkable and lasting imprint on the tile market and industry.”

Members of BAC Local 21 of the Administrative District Council 1 of Illinois and BAC signatory contractor Trostrud Mosaic & Tile Co. in Wood Dale, Ill., were also honored for their work on the Artistic Tile project with BAC’s Best Tile Project award.

John Flynn, union president, noted, “Projects of this caliber would not be possible without the close collaboration of visionary owners like Nancy Epstein (Artistic’s founder and CEO) and the union contractors and skilled masonry trowel trades craftworkers that they employ.”

The Chicago showroom is Artistic’s seventh in the U.S., along with the firm’s 110,000 square foot corporate headquarters in Secaucus, N.J., comprising a state-of-the-art warehouse, training center, customer service center and design studio. The company also has wholesale distribution to over 150 high-end tile dealers nationwide. For more on the company, call 877.528.5401.

BAC is the oldest continuous construction union in North America, having been founded in 1865, and represents roughly 100,000 skilled masonry-trowel trades craftworkers in the U.S. and Canada.
