Shaw’s Epic line goes ‘Platinum’

HomeNewsShaw’s Epic line goes ‘Platinum’

DALTON—Shaw’s high performance finish, ScufResist Platinum, will now be applied to its Epic brand. According to mill executives, the finish is up to six times more resistant to scuffs than similar finishes.

“Testing proves that ScufResist provides the consumer with permission to enjoy life on her hardwood floors,” said Kevin Thompson, Shaw’s hardwood product category manager. ScufResist Platinum’s manufacturing processes are the same as previous finishes in the line but has added ultra-wear, resistant particles in the top coats. Technology keeps the finish smooth and clear but with improved abrasion resistance.

The finish is the latest development from Shaw’s Hardwood Research & Development Group, formed in September 2009 as part of the mill’s hardwood restructure.

“Studies revealed that durability was still a major concern for potential buyers of hardwood floors, and finding a more durable finish was a top priority for our in-house wood and finish experts,” said Don Finkell, president and CEO of Shaw’s Anderson Hardwood division and a group participant.

All Epic products will feature the finish no later than April 1.
