MONCURE, N.C.—Pergo’s sister company Uniboard has begun operations at its new medium-density and high-density fiberboard (MDF/HDF) plant following a one-year relocation from its original home in La Baie, Canada.

Fabian Schiffer, vice president of corporate communications for Pfleiderer, parent of both Uniboard and Pergo, said the new facility is part of Pfleiderer’s mega-site concept, which is “leading to advantages in cost and competitiveness due to higher efficiency.”

James Hogg, Uniboard’s president and CEO, noted with the addition of the MDF/HDF plant, the Moncure site “covers customers’ complete requirements.”

He added, the site is approximately 30 miles from Pergo’s Raleigh, N.C., manufacturing facility and North American headquarters, which makes the delivery of HDF for the production of laminate flooring more efficient due to lower transport costs and higher reliability of supply.
