HARTFORD, CONN.—The Connecticut Floor Covering Association (CFCA) recently held its 11th annual awards night, where it recognized industry professionals from across the state for their achievements and installations.

The highlights of the evening were the presentations of The President’s Award and three Lifetime Achievement awards, two of which went to people who worked in the retail sector: Donald Ceskavich, who worked for 40 years as a sales manager at Henry Goldsmith Floor Covering in New Britain, Conn., and Al Gamer, who worked for many years at Epstein Bros. Carpet in Elmwood, Conn., managing the commercial flooring department. He was also a past president of CFCA.

The third Lifetime Achievement award was doled out to the family of Ronald Verdosci, former owner of Fine Art Rug in Canton, Conn., as well as a master installer who also designed and created area rugs. Verdosci was honored posthumously for a career devoted to the floor covering industry. Bill Goggin of Shaw Indus- tries received the President’s Award for his years of service to the association and his term as a past president of the CFCA, while Tana Sylvia of Stanton Carpet, who represents the Stanton, Royal Dutch and Antrim product lines, received the Excellence in Service for a Mill Representative Award. Sylvia has been with Stanton since 2005.

“We’re very proud of Tana and her accomplishments,” said Bob Tucci, Stanton’s Northeast regional vice president. “Stanton is privileged to have her on our team.”

Jonathan Cohen, COO, Stanton, added, “Stanton has always recognized Tana as a great salesperson, but this award truly culminates all of her outstanding efforts.”

Jon Thierfeld, a past president of the CFCA and sales representative for Leggett & Platt carpet cushion, served as master of ceremonies for the gala event.

Applications for next year’s awards night are now available.
