Alexandria, VA— Coverings is once again seeking superior stone and tile projects that place a premium on innovative, sustainable design. Worthy installations will be recognized by PROJECT: Green, a program presented by the international tile and stone super show together with Environmental Design + Construction magazine. Projects chosen for their exceptional eco-minded achievements will be honored in a centerpiece display at the April 17-20 expo and conference at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. What’s more, they will enjoy exposure in a 2012 issue of ED+C. Entries are now being accepted; the deadline for submissions has been extended to January 30, 2012.

In 2011, five PROJECT: Green honorees included Green Builder Media’s Orlando showhouse, where sustainable ceramic and porcelain tile products from Florim and Refin were used, and a swimwear fashions boutique in Coconut Creek, FL, that incorporated a Silestone counter with 75% recycled content. Also recognized were a 2,200-square-foot pool patio designed by Colorco Ltd in Merrimack, NH, and a bathroom in Norwood, NJ. While last year’s winning projects were based in the U.S., PROJECT: Green is open to both domestic and international designs. The key criteria are that they have been completed within the past two years (January 2010–January 2012), and incorporate tile and stone in a manner that results in an aesthetically distinct site while demonstrating that sustainability was the chief mission. They must also qualify in one of the following categories:  Residential New, Residential Remodel, Commercial New, Commercial Remodel, Institutional New, Institutional Remodel.

Each entry must be submitted online at, , and must be accompanied by at least three photographic illustrations; essays detailing the sustainability of the project; a list of the green certifications applied for/awarded for the project; a list of green products used; and any PDFs or videos related to the project. Multiple entries are accepted, and it is open to architects, designers, builders, contractors, distributors, retailers, manufacturers and installers. There is no fee to enter.
