An Industry First – The First Residential Resilient Flooring Products Gold Certified to NSF/ANSI 332 Sustainability Assessment for Resilient Floor Coverings

Congoleum is pleased to announce DuraCeramic and DuraPlank II products have been awarded NSF/ANSI 332 Gold Level certification from NSF International and their NSF Sustainability business unit.  These are the first residential resilient flooring products to achieve certification to the Gold standard.

Based on a life cycle assessment approach, the NSF/ANSI 332 Sustainability Assessment for Resilient Floor Coverings is the leading standard to evaluate and certify sustainability of Resilient Flooring products. The NSF/ANSI 332 Standard affords a framework for identifying environmental performance and sustainability attributes of flooring products. Similar to LEED certification, this standard assigns point values to prerequisite requirements and elective criteria in five key areas: product design, manufacturing, long-term value, corporate governance and innovation.

Dennis Jarosz, Senior Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, comments, “DuraCeramic continues a long tradition of “firsts” in the resilient category.  It has led the LVT category resurgence; it was the first rounded-edge, groutable tile; the first with a patented wear surface, the first LVT product with Scotchgard Protector and Silver antibacterial protection, and now the first NSF/ANSI332 Gold Certified residential product.”

To maintain these registrations, NSF Sustainability will conduct surveillance audits annually and onsite audits every third year to verify continued compliance.  The DuraCeramic and DuraPlank II product certification listings can be found on NSF Sustainability’s product listing web site at www.nsf.org/certified/sustain/listings.asp.
