HomeNewsMannington names Design Local grand prize winner

Team DC, a collaboration of six architects and interior designers from Washington DC, Boston, and New York, has been named the grand prize winner in Mannington Commercial’s inaugural Design Local competition. Chosen by votes cast online by thousands of architects, interior designers and fans, the team’s collection will become a full product collection of carpet and LVT, manufactured by Mannington.

As a company with manufacturing facilities in nine cities across the country, Mannington is deeply committed to US manufacturing and creating quality, American-made products. In this spirit, the company launched Design Local  – a celebration of local design, and the inspiration that surrounds us in the communities where we live and work.

Enlisting teams of designers from firms in Austin, Chicago, D.C. and San Francisco, Mannington commissioned each to create a collection that captures and translates the unique spirit of their hometowns, during a 24 hour design immersion. After developing the concepts with Mannington’s product designers, the teams presented for online voting, earlier this month.

Team DC’s collection, On the Grid, was inspired by the maps, signs, transportation and topography that draw people to the city – and bring it to life, day and night. A short video telling about their inspiration, development and collaboration story can be viewed at ManningtonDesignLocal.com.

As winners of the competition, the six designers – Patricia Duval, Kristyn Hill, Preeti Reedy, Maggie Pascoe, Bonny Slater and Anne Stahl – will premiere their collection in the Mannington Showroom at NeoCon 2013 in Chicago.
