Manchester, N.H.—At the recent Pet for Patriots annual gala event held on Capital Hill in Washington, Flooring America received the organization’s first-ever “Pet Hero” award for its support of Pets for Patriots’ mission to transform the lives of veterans by helping them save at-risk shelter dogs or cats.

Frank Chiera, vice president of marketing for Flooring America, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “It’s a great honor to be the first organization to receive the “Pet Hero” award. I’m incredibly proud of our hundreds of members who have dedicated their time and resources to raise money for this worthy cause.

“Pets have an amazing ability to bring joy to our lives,” he added, “and Pets for Patriots connects at-risk pets with veterans and military personnel and gives them both a second chance at life by allowing them to forge powerful bonds.”

The pet-friendly celebration featured prominent supporters from across the country as well as notable members from the U.S. House of Representatives, including Rodney Frelinghuysen, Pete Visclosky, Mac Thornberry, Adam Smith, Ken Calvert and Ander Crenshaw.

“The executive leadership and the hundreds of independent store owners of Flooring America have truly embraced our mission and are deserving recipients of our inaugural “Pet Hero” Award,” said Beth Zimmerman, founder and executive director, Pets for Patriots. “Their passion for our mission and relentless drive to create awareness, engagement and funding is helping veterans across the country afford to have new pet friends in their lives.”

To date, Flooring America has raised nearly $75,000 for the organization with the support of its members and customers. The company’s goal is to raise more than $250,000 for Pets for Patriots.
