McAdenville, N.C.—H. Woodrow “Woody” Gosney, carpet yarn division president for Pharr Yarns, announced his plans to retire from the company in March 2015, after nearly 43 years with Pharr. Rich Pattinson, business director for Pharr’s carpet yarn division, will succeed Gosney.
“Pharr Yarns is known for its product innovation, high degree of manufacturing quality and extraordinary customer service due in great part to the insight, knowledge and effort of Woody Gosney,” said Bill Carstarphen, president and CEO of Pharr Yarns. “Woody is a legend in the carpet industry, and he will be sorely missed throughout Pharr and the entire carpet world.”
Former Pharr CEO J.M. “Bip” Carstarphen hired Gosney in 1972 and initially had him spend time in Pharr’s plants studying the manufacturing processes, products and equipment. In 1982, Gosney assumed the role of vice president of Pharr’s carpet yarn division, was promoted to executive vice president in 1995, and ultimately became carpet yarn division president in 2005.
Pattinson joined Pharr Yarns four years ago after a 21-year career with DuPont & Invista, where he held leadership roles in operations, business, finance and manufacturing. Pattinson has a broad range of responsibilities within the carpet yarn division of Pharr Yarns, including the integration of resources and technology for a growing product portfolio.
