Advanced Flooring Technology introduces natural fiber installation certification

HomeNewsAdvanced Flooring Technology introduces natural fiber installation certification

natural fiberWichita, Kan.—Advanced Flooring Technology (AFT) has added its first Woven Natural Fiber Certification class, to be held at its facility here from August 13-15. This class will cover training in Axminster, Wilton, velvets, hand woven, custom and even flat weaves. Students will receive certification upon successful completion of the class.

Participants will learn to identify different woven and natural fiber materials, as well as the corresponding manufacturing processes. During hands-on training, instructors will guide students through seam cutting and prep, hand sewing techniques and stitches, sisal and seagrass construction techniques, flat weave identification, construction and seam prep. There will also be instruction on different stretching properties, double stick installation methods, Kool Glide double stick seaming, custom staircase runner fabrication, drum step stair fabrication, installation and many other important skills.

AFT observed that it has been training on these types of products more and more in recent years. “It seems that regardless of where the economy is, customers buying these types of products are still buying,” said Robert Varden, owner of AFT. “We have had numerous requests to grow this category of training, so it only makes sense to develop a strong master’s program for training, identifying and certifying professionals that can properly install these types of products. It’s a win-win for everyone—the consumer is guaranteed an installer that is certified to install their product, the retailer now has the confidence in their installer to install the product correctly and the manufacturer will be able to sell more of these products and know they are being installed properly. We’re very excited to be offering such a high-level program.”
