Titusville, Pa. – HomerWood  Premium Hardwood Flooring has garnered two ADEX (Award for Design Excellence) awards—the distinction awarded by Design Journal, a leading international design trade magazine. Competing from among record 2,000+ entries, HomerWood received ADEX Gold for its superior Oil Naturals Finish and top-level Platinum for one of its hot custom hardwood flooring designs.

“Being chosen as a Platinum and Gold winner of the 2012 ADEX Awards brings the kind of third-party validation that money can’t buy,” said HomerWood General Manager Paul Walker.A sculpted, time worn and color washed floor earned HomerWood Platinum ADEX. These hand-scraped surfaces with various color washes create a floor that was inspired by today’s demand for a time worn look with a matte finish. One of the unique offerings in HomerWood’s revitalized Custom Capabilities; these looks help dealers differentiate their services in the market.  Customers can choose from one of the company’s pre-selected designs or create a personal design that will truly set the home apart. From smooth, lustrous surfaces to classically-distressed wire-brushed surfaces, HomerWood’s beautiful custom looks run the gamut from color-washed visuals to liming, an antique wood treatment which leaves traces of white in the wood’s open grain.

Gold ADEX went to HomerWood’s Oil Naturals finish that ties in with the “natural” look. The oil finish is extremely low-luster and brings out the graining and texture of the wood and creates a smooth, subtle patina.  It provides the look of an on-site oiled floor, but without the odors and residue associated with on-site finishing.  Typical on-site finishing can take two-to-three coats and as many days to apply. A pre-finished floor also can save time and costs compared to site finishing. Plus, a consumer may choose to refresh her oil floor once a year and spot treat any specific areas that have higher traffic.  Refreshing the floor can bring it back to its original state; one of the key benefits of an oil finish.

“We’re proud to offer our customers award winning products. We focus on developing stylish designs and quality products,” said Walker. “Couple this distinction with the performance qualities of its floors, the company’s dedication to sustainable flooring products and its commitment to service the industry, and you have a winning combination.”

ADEX is the largest and most prestigious award program for product design. Categories for this award include furniture, flooring, fixtures and finishes. ADEX selects judges that are the most celebrated in their respective areas of expertise. Winners of this award are published in the April Design Journal.

Design Journal’s 2012 ADEX experienced the largest entrant pool to date. Thousands of award entries were received from companies in the kitchen, bath, cabinet, hospitality, home furnishings, flooring and lighting industries.
